JIM KEYS
The show on the 10/5/12 featured Jim Keys as the musical enterainment , nothing wrong with the music but for Jim Keys to suggest that he wrote the Brisbane Lions theme song is to say the least drawing a rather long bow indeed, he may have changed a few words but the majority of the words and all of the the music are the same as the previous Fitzroy theme song. We may be gone but we will not be forgotten
audience negativity
Hey guy's love the show but hate the boo's form the audience when announcing teams or players. Would be good if this could be eliminated or toned down. Keep up the good work!
Indigenous All-Stars
Would a concept like the Indigenous All-Stars /NRL All-Stars game work in the AFL? What do people think?
Adam Goodes record breaking game
Love your show and my husband and I tune in every week. But we were a bit disappointed with the mention of Adam Goodes 304th club record breaking game. We almost thought you had forgotten about it until Leila & Shelley mentioned it at the end of the program, even an interview from Sydney would have been great. Anyway keep up the fantastic work you produce each week. Vicki
Episode 6
Thanks so much for the great night!!! We really enjoyed the behind the scenes making of a TV show & the panel is entertaining & knowledgable without resorting to childish pranks. It was awesome of the crew to come out after the taping & sign autographs too. Thanks Mangrook.

Love your Footy Show - its the best
Hi Guys Just wanted to say love your show, it is really is the essence of what footy is all about. There is no bull commentary, and the team is very down to earth. Also giving chances to local bands for some air time, helps them to be noticed, and hopefully open some doors. Even better that there are no ads! Also better that Shelley barracks for the Blues. Give Grooka high fives. Keep up the great work team! Regards Rob
show 12/4/12 Qld
I have enjoyed your show to date,a different slant on AFL commentary. However this weeks show was the same type of rubbish used on other football shows like the NRL "The Footy Show". Dress ups! Grow up! Insult to injury was your nearly non coverage of the Gold Coast v Essendon game, for both teams and supporters. Graeme Teasdale was the only guest with any credibility. Well done Graeme
Too Victorian Focused
Hi guys, This is the only AFL show I watch, which I trust reflects what I think of the show! However, when looking at Aussie Rules history it appears to go down the same trail as all the other Aussie Rules TV shows in that it focuses too much on Victorian Football history. I'm sure Gilbert will acknowledge the health of the WA and SA comps was pretty decent up until the Eagles joining, yet you still only look back at the VFL whilst eschewing the history of the WAFL and the SANFL clubs. I know you could argue that the Victorian clubs are all in the AFL comp, with only one from Adelaide (Port) and maybe Freo being a merger of East & South Freo clubs, but we hear nothing about these two once great comps or interstate clubs. You have to agree that the AFL TV Shows keep bringing up the same old games; Carlton Coll 1970 GF, 77 Draw, Richmond's Golden era etc etc. OK its great to watch and listen to once or twice, but its now very tired. Do any Victorians agree with me? Can we therefore either (a) rule a line in the sand and stop talking about the VFL Past before WCE/BB joined or (b) include some segments on WAFL and SANFL club history please? Throw in Tassie if you like. Last night's show was a little annoying in that it was all VFL history, and then you ran out of time to cover the teams playing this week. Otherwise, I'm happy with everything else ;-)
AFL/VFL
Victorian teams should list their VFL grand finals seperate to the expanded competiton of the AFL. Example there was no AFL grand finals won in the 50's! not taking away they were great victories in the VFL competition.
That 70's Show
Best grass roots footy show and tonight was a major winner. What a great idea and so entertaining. How about a show that focuses on the hard men of football? Robbie Muir, Rhys- Jones, etc. Well done
Marngrook fdooty show
Hi . thanks for giving us the footy show each week .It has a good balance of football news with light comedy interaction mixed into it, and it is the main footy show that we watch . We both have a smile on our dials while we are viewing it . ps......... can you balance out the volume of the audience sound . It comes over much too loud at times and we have our finger on the loudness control most of the time as it drowns out the comments from your members . Hope that your show continues for a long time as it certainly beats that other show on Channel 9 .
What's going on?
Some things I like about your show. It showcases indigenous players and gives you an insight into those players. I like the interviews with the older players and footy flashbacks into their career. I would like to see you go out into the community more and interview potential rising stars and indigenous players in grass roots footy. What I haven’t liked lately is some of the commentary, which seems a bit one-eyed. Krakouer is not an “inspiration to kids” yes he did his time but there is still victim in that story and one hell of a bleak story that was. The whole Rendell – Misfud saga was not covered objectively and to highlight your point this week you further denigrated Grant Thomas in a way I don’t believe was fair. Panellist then went on to say indigenous players who disagreed with your point of view were only the minority. The amount of time given to Misfud over two weeks, was what looked to me like a transparent rap for a mate. I’m pretty disappointed that you guys are heading down this path, which is something I dislike about some other footy show panellists.
You need more time
Great show again last night; Leila asking the panel questions during the news was a breath of fresh air. With the extra game every week you are obviously under the pump to cover everything in 1 hour; would be great if you could convince ABC to give you an extra 15-30 minutes. It wouldnt hurt the ABC to give you some promos during the week as well instead of hiding you under their metaphorical bushel!
whatever happened to
Boys. Would be great to find out about Bulldog champs Robert Groenewagon and Alistair Ford are up to. From memory I think Alistair Ford wore the Great number 3 for awhile
Mifsud
Hi guys, love the show. A couple of weeks ago most of your show and the AFL world talked about the sacking of the Adelaide fellow for being racist etc, etc. There was also a long segment with Mifsud talking about how its not acceptable in the AFL etc, etc. We'll see what comments are made this week with the unfair accusations made by Mifsud against the Melbourne coach. Mifsud has over used his powers and is trigger happy, he's on a mission. He should be sacked, if he was white he would be out of a job. I wonder which person he'll go after next? Forget about saying sorry and getting counselling. You also talked about how it would be a good idea if the AFL sat down with the elders and had a brain storming session. (fair call) I think a better idea would be to forget footy and sport for a minute and actually think of the bigger picture.(this is an Australian and world wide problem) Lets get the elders to sit down with the Australian govt and also a representative of the English govt (maybe the Queen) and come up with a solution to make Australia a better place. Lets not forget that its not my fault or my neighbours fault what happened in the past, but for some reason we seem to be copping it in some way or form. The sooner we come up with a solution the better off we will be. As an adult and a father of 2 boys (9yrs & 11yrs) I teach my children that words mean nothing, words dont harm you, ignore and walk away, dont worry about it, but if it gets physical and the other person starts to hurt you smack them in the mouth. But for some reason some people in this country get offendered by words. I think those people and the rest of Australia need to toughen up. Dont get me started on the Australian govt or the justice system. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Love the show, first time i
Love the show, first time i had watched a full episode tonight. I'm a young male right in the demographic of 'The Footy Show' on Ch9, and i can't tell you how refreshing it is to watch your show, the sincerity of the presenters and guests, the good nature, i love it. Count me in each week.
Sing Off
Gilbert, can you organise a sing off between Longy and the Magical Man, Wilbur Wilson! My money's on Wilbur ( When the next tear drop falls) All the best guys. Geoff
Iview
Why cant I watch in iview? I tried last year as well. Hope you guys can get on board with this technology.
IView
Marngrook is not-permitted to be on iView, because Telstra/Bigpond has exclusive online rights for AFL footage
iview
understand why not shown on iview. however offsiders shows snippets of afl, and have full episodes replayed on iview.
iview
And that's exactly correct, Offsiders show SNIPPETS... which is allowed under review & critique (news), but Marngrook is an entertainment program, so the AFL and their broadcast partners (Seven, Foxtel, Telstra), have allowed to use 8 minutes of footage per episode, and as part of that contract, we are not to put the AFL material on-line.
Matthew Rendell
How are Matthew Rendell's recent comments racist, or even unimformed, in lieu of the Flying Boomerang program mention last night. This program has been extended to 150 "Indigenous" kids at the exclusion of white kids. Matthew appears to have taken a current exclusive program one step further by trying to help with the kids education.
Love the show, a facebook
Love the show, a facebook page would be great.

Well Done a great show
Hello Marngrook Footy Show, I've just been watching your show tonight for the first time. In fact I hadn't heard of it before and for some reason the TV was fortuitously tuned to it tonight! What a pleasant change to have a sensible show about footy by comparison with the pathetic, juvenile show on the commercial network! At last we've got sensible and entertaining show to watch without the gratuitous sexual innuendo and cheap personal jibes. Keep up the great work, you've got a thankful new viewer!!! Neville D
Jim Stynes tribute
Hi Folks, Thanks for the tribute to Jim Stynes. As an Irish fan of the Demons, I appreciated it. I would certainly like to see an Irish team play an Indigenous team. I think the Irish need to improve a lot! Any chance of replaying the full segment of Jim on the show, please.
Is my television fuzzy?
Is my television fuzzy or do I see freckles on Ronnie?

Roll on March 22
Love the show guys (and girls). Noticed the pretend footy show being advertised so figured my fav. footy show - you know, the one that's actually about football - would have to be starting soon. Very happy to see it is. :) JoH. Hey Gilly, stay strong and hold the line, this is OUR year.
Footy Show
Great to see Marngrook will be starting soon... love ya all, the best footy show on TV ... PS. To the beautiful ladies, Leila, (best of luck for your new TV series) ... and Shelley, love ya smiling faces. To Grant, Giily, Ronnie (Go Cats), Alan and Chris, always enjoy the banter and ribbing that goes on ... keep up the informative, interesting, humourous and totally enjoyable efforts you all put in ... Many thanks to you all and your behind the camera support team. James Mason
we love this show, the guests
we love this show, the guests are excellent. I had a number 5 on my Carlton jumper as a teenager and was thrilled to see Syd Jackson interviewed on your show a couple of times; his quiet dignity, knowledge and experience are priceless. Keep up the great work - the show is entertaining, informative, funny and gives players and fans a chance to talk about footy in a great environment where they are respected and listened to. The Allen Christensen interview was very good too -wonderful to see young players on TV. Ad free is a huge bonus too!! Looking forward to season 2012
Footy show
I have watched the show since it moved to Pay TV. I make a point of not missing the show because of it's information, interesting guests and humour. It leaves the other so called footy show where it belongs...in the gutter.
Great Show
Excellent watched your show all year!! Keep up the good work
mick malthouse
hi there guys. Let's hope mick malthouse is not lost to footy. how about his own show similiar to in Melbourne tonight. we could have with Mick tonight discussing all the latest footy issues etc. He could have a wheel , dancers etc. it would make rivetting viewing.
Good show keep the good work
Good show keep the good work up.
Charlie Stewart
Love your show. Your interview with Charlie Stewart was fantastic. As a bulldogs supporter from way back I loved watching Charlie play. His drop kicks and stab passes were flawless. To see him looking so well after all these years made my night - no, it made my year. Congratulations on a great year for the show.
Wow! Great show! Love it!
Wow! Great show! Love it! Great entertainment! Well done Grant, Gillie & Co. I much prefer watching this footy show than the other Thursday night footy show. It's great to see a footy show that actually puts most of the focus into Football. Thanks.
Hi Guys We would like to
Hi Guys We would like to congratulate everyone associated with the Margrook Footy show. We have watched your show since 2007 & loved every minute of it. Our only suggestion is that we would like to see it go for 90 minutes instead of 60 min, so you can still have the segments of old ie where are they now & also more time to chat to the fantastic special guests that you have on. Keep up the good work to all & especially the girls (go the blues Shelley!!) & look forward to your show in 2012.
Come to Darwin
LOVE THE SHOW. But I want to see you in Darwin. Just imagine a live show at the amphitheatre here, it would be awesome. You guys would definitely fill it!
GREAT JOB
My husband and i watch your show every week and i must say that i am extremely proud of the two women presenters on your show. Girls you a FANTASTIC. You know your footy you know your job and most of all your respet you have for yourselves. Finally a football show that does not discriminate women. It is such a breath of fresh air to be a women and watch a show regarding footy that is just about footy and team spirit and respect. How refreshing to see male presenters show such respect. Fantastic Ladies and Gents. Go Pies. Kind Regards Nadia
Thank you for your show
Hi all, Just want to say thank you for a terrific show. I am so glad to find a genuinely good footy show- great humour without unnecessary crappy stunts like the other Thurs Footy show. You do an amazing job- with dignity. Hold your heads high. We'll keep watching. I have told my school students about your show as an option to the other- and I hope they'll switch over. Stay strong! Maureen Kovacevic
22/09/2011
Who was the group singing towards the end of last weeks episode, I was falln asleep on my couch listening to them sing, when I opened my eyes i realised it was the MARNGROOK show still on
Darwin Doggies fan, as you know Grant
Grantie, just love this show and all those years we had you at Songlines you'd missed your true calling! Next season we want to see a show from Elcho Island. League there has a heap of teams and we reckon highest per capita involvement in Aussie rules in the country. Tell Leila approx 7 young women's teams as well. You've gotta see it, and no shortage of musos there as well. Gurrumul, Manuel Dhurrrkay and Saltwater for example. Keep up the great work, Gillian Harrison
I have seen all sorts of
I have seen all sorts of players ranging from upstanding citizens to absolute ratbags that keep the papers full of bad pie publicity. Leon Davis as far as I can remember has always been a brilliant example both on and off field (keeping in mind I missed a few years when I was out bush). What better player would fill a position at a club such as the pies, acting as a player mentor, part time specialist coach and general father figure to all young players requireing a sensible watching eye, than Leon.
Bett's, Yarran, Walker, Garlett
I call them Blue Heelers as they always seem to be running around a pack or waiting for that ball to come over the back then when you look up and there they. ps: Sorry Burnsy had to jump ship ( old Cat supporter ) Jeff Garlett snr.
Thank you for 2011
It has been a pleasure watching the Marngrook Footy Show every week as it is the best Footy Show on TV. Enjoy watching Gilbert & Ronnie having a go at each other. Cant wait for the Show to come to Sydney again next year as we saw the show last time they were in Sydney.
Leon Davis
Two things recently have caught my eye. One was the interview you did with Phil Narkle and the mention of the position he now occupies within the club. The second being Leigh Brown getting out of the caper while still near the top of his game (Much better than being asked to leave). Now that all makes me think: I have been a pies supporter since 1968 and I have seen all sorts of players ranging from upstanding citizens to absolute ratbags that keep the papers full of bad pie publicity. Next time you speak to a Pies person, perhaps you could ask them if they could come up with a suitable package that would give him that job but still keep in touch with his family.
